The Play That Goes Wrong
Sound Designer & Foley Artist
Going into this production, I knew that the sound design of this show would likely be relatively straightforward if I was just pulling sound effects I searched for and found online. To make it more fun, interesting, and more of a personal challenge, the director and I decided that the bulk of my sound design for The Play That Goes Wrong would done with live Foley effects. Between conversations with my director and what I knew needed to happen from the script, I worked with our props department to find everything I needed to create and perform the sounds of this world. I additionally created a couple of props I used for certain effects. In the end, I believe it made the design more lively, and it very much fit well with the tone of the show, and having this challenge of live sound effects was another way to elevate the technical elements of this play that really make it what it is.
